A Visit to Bennett’s Farm

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils had a fantastic opportunity to visit Bennett’s Farm, a working farm where they were able to experience first-hand what life on a farm is really like.

The children loved meeting the animals and were even brave enough to stroke the cows, piglets and sheep! The hens, however, were a little less welcoming!

Of course, no farm visit would be complete without an ice cream, and the children thoroughly enjoyed a delicious ice cream made right there on the farm.

But the visit wasn’t just about having fun. It was a fantastic learning experience too. The children discovered the huge variety of jobs involved in running a working farm, from milking cows and caring for animals to operating machinery. They also learnt some fascinating practical facts, including how long milk can be stored and the different ways a farm can develop and diversify. We explored how a working farm can welcome visitors and even expand into hosting special events such as weddings.

It was a wonderful day of hands-on learning, new experiences and plenty of fun. A huge thank you to Bennett’s Farm for giving our Year 5 and 6 children such an interesting insight into farm life!
