Year 7 – Art – Spring – 1
In Spring 1, year 7 looked to answer the question: Does Van Gogh inspire modern day art?
They began by look at Van Gogh and their existing knowledge. They learn that Van Gogh was a collector of art himself, and they created their own museum style label for a piece of their own work.
They also learnt that Van Gogh took inspiration from other artists, and they had a go at translating colour into ‘The Thresher’ one of Van Gogh’s pieces of work before creating seascapes with texture, inspired by Van Gogh’s ‘View of the Sea at Scheveningen’ – made famous from being stolen!
The students then moved onto to looking at Van Gogh’s famous self-portrait work before working on their final self-portrait piece, using oil pastels.
