Being a Caretaker – Mr Whittall visits Primary

Aim of the Activity

As part of the introduction to Careers Pathway in Primary Mr Whittall gave a Careers talk to P1 and P3 today.

He spoke about his current job as a caretaker and his experience as a carpentry apprentice, gaining his City and Guilds qualifications.

He answered questions from the pupils giving examples of the variety of jobs and places he had enjoyed during his career and the skills he had picked up along the way.

The pupils were shown some of the tools Mr Whittall uses as part of his role, and they got to check for straight walls and right angles .

The pupils were engrossed and enjoyed listening to Mr Whittall. They were encouraged to consider their own interests and hobbies when thinking about a career. Mr Whittall highlighted the importance of learning Maths if they wanted to go into the building business
