Creative Writing – a short story inspired by Jurassic Park
As we head into the half-term, everyone should have enough spare time to read this tense and exciting short story. Recently written by James Williams, one of our Year 10 students, this story shows excellent use of imagery and short sentences to create tension, while the finality of the ending is superb.

The sun started to set, the shadows of the trees around him started to stretch and the light began to dim.
The lights on the electric fences were turning, lighting the ground every few seconds.
“John,” the ranger said, “The visitor’s tour is on, they’ve already been here.”
“Alright, they’re not gong to attack whilst I’m up there, are they?” John asked, worry clearly visible on his face.
Silence.
The ranger walked off, clearly answering.
John was alone now.
They turned off the locks to the interior and exterior doors to the containment paddock of the raptor pen.
He entered the maintenance shed which had a door to the outside and one into the paddock. He opened a locker and started to sort its contents in his bay.
The door to the enclosure rattles, the handle shaking.
Someone’s trying to get out?
He opened the door, only seeing one thing.
The teeth.
