Year 11 have “GONE FISHING”
Recently year 11 requested that they have the option to go fishing on a Friday as part of their Outdoor Education lessons. As the school didn’t have any fishing equipment, a request was put on local social media, by the staff, to donate fishing equipment to the school. Within a couple of days, we had been donated Rods, Reels, Fishing Bags, Bait Boxes and all the other paraphernalia that you need to go fishing. The next step was for the students to apply for their rod licences, which are a legal requirement plus permits. With all of this completed and a fresh bag of maggots the boys, with staff, headed off to go fishing. It wasn’t until the 3rd attempt that they actually caught some fish, 9 in total, that they really got the bug for this very calming sport. The excitement they showed when the first fish was caught was second to none and then the competitive element kicked. Luckily on this occasion, they each caught 3. Not bad for 2 hours of work.
