Year 9 – Art – Spring 2

In Spring 2 year 9 had the opportunity to explore: How can watercolours be used?

The students had the opportunity to experiment with different watercolour techniques and identified their preference.

The students were then introduced to artist Georgia O’Keeffe and her art based on flowers. Students used their observational skills to sketch a flower, before using watercolours to add colour.

Next, students explored O’Keeffe’s shell and landscape work before being challenged to produce their own watercolour shell and a landscape with a reflection.

Finally, the students explored commercial artist Steven Brown, exploring the appeal of his work and how he promotes it through social media. Students then had a go at producing their own colourful highland cow!
