Platform – Rail Safety and Careers Session

We were pleased to welcome Platform into our primary phase to deliver an engaging and informative session on rail safety and careers. As part of this opportunity, some of our pupils will later have the chance to visit and use the railway, putting their learning into practice.

Tom led an important and interactive talk about staying safe around trains and railway stations. Pupils were reminded to always stand well behind the yellow line, as trains can approach quickly and create strong gusts of wind. He emphasised that no one should ever go onto the tracks, even if something has been dropped, as trains can be faster and quieter than expected. The session also highlighted the importance of listening carefully to announcements, following safety signs, and staying close to a responsible adult when on platforms.

It was a valuable session that encouraged pupils to enjoy using the railway while understanding how important it is to follow safety rules to keep themselves and others safe.
