Activity
The Year 10 students had the opportunity to join Louise in a Money Workshop to gain knowledge and understanding regarding financial education. The workshop covered multiple different topics including savings, tax, reading a pay slip, budgeting, scams and fraud. The workshops are tailored to the curriculum and included a range of activities designed to fit life stages of ability. The 6-week workshop covered a range of fun activities raising the importance of money, providing real life examples and situations to get young people thinking about the kind of spending decisions they might make in the future.
Each of the workshops were adapted with fun games Snakes and Ladders provided a fun twist on the traditional game that explore the benefits of saving for the long term, with opportunities or slithery surprise.
They left with a wealth of knowledge…and a wealth of goodies!
Impact of activity
The students engaged with the workshop over the 6-week course and had never experienced anything like this. It showed them how to manage money and the importance of managing money for the future. The students were able to use the resources provided one example was; seeing a real-life payslip, explore the payslip and see the range of features that they needed to be aware of.
