Bikeability returns for the 3rd year
Bikeability is a national cycle training programme, learning practical and safe skills on how to cycle on today’s roads. This year has seen us welcome back Bikeability for the third year in a row.
We have had students from Primary 3, Years 7,8 and 9 taking part and thoroughly enjoying the experience, building up confidence on a bicycle within the school playground and understanding the basics of bike maintenance and the importance of cycle safety. Gaining level 1 students then moved out onto the local roads alongside the instructors and staff to be able to gain their level 2 which included building their confidence on a bicycle, starting and stopping, being aware of other road users and learning some signs along the way too. Students engaged well with the Bikeability team showing confidence and understanding meaning some were able to go on and achieve their level 3.
Lead instructor Dave Haimes and his colleague Dave Blinston both stated that they could not have been more pleased with the effort, maturity and listening skills that all students showed during the three days of training.
